Being a new CPA isn’t about age—it’s about aspiration. It’s about your desire to make smart career decisions and take advantage of growth opportunities within the profession. It’s about your commitment to figuring out how to accomplish those goals. And it’s about understanding that true advancement requires you to build a network of support.
At the NYSSCPA, we have more than 26,000 members who have had started their careers with the same frustrations, excitement and questions that you have right now. That's why we put together the NextGen program, to provide you with the support services and opportunities to network that you, as a new CPA, will need.
See yourself not just as the beneficiary of Next Generation programs, but as an active partner in them, by getting involved with statewide and chapter-level NextGen committees and participating in the Society’s student outreach initiatives. This includes COAP: the Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession, a week-long summer enrichment program that introduces high school juniors who are underrepresented in the CPA profession to and establishes mentoring relationships between students and CPAs.
If you're a new CPA who does not yet belong to the NYSSCPA—consider joining us! Membership brings both tangible and intangible benefits, from networking opportunities that may lead to your next job, to resources that help you to stay on top of the latest developments in the profession, as well as discounts on CPE classes, CPA exam review courses and more.
