Central to mission for the coming year is engaging the next generation of accountants

By Andrea Pagano
Syracuse Chapter President

Greetings, members of the Syracuse Chapter! My name is Andrea Pagano, and I am honored to introduce myself as the new president of our chapter of the NYSSCPA.

I come to this role with a background deeply rooted in accounting and education. After earning my MBA from SUNY Oswego, I obtained my CPA license in the state of New York. I started my career in public accounting as an auditor for KPMG, LLP before moving into academia. During my tenure as a professor of accounting at SUNY Oswego, I have specialized in teaching intermediate and advanced accounting, drawing on my experience as an auditor with KPMG, LLP.

I am particularly excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for our chapter in the coming year. My focus will be not only on nurturing our chapter’s culture and supporting our annual events, but also on addressing the evolving needs of our membership and fostering growth within our local accounting community. Central to this mission is my commitment to engaging the next generation of accountants. It is crucial that we inspire and educate our youth about the opportunities and rewards of our profession. This will ensure a robust succession plan for the future.

I strongly believe in the power of constructive feedback and collaboration. Your insights, ideas and suggestions are very important to me as we work together to elevate our chapter and advance our profession. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any comments or thoughts you may have.

I am genuinely looking forward to the challenges and achievements that await us in the year ahead. Together, I am confident that we can build upon our successes and create a promising future for the Syracuse Chapter.
