The 2022 Legislative session has begun with the re-introduction of the Power of Attorney E-Signature Expansion bill. Below you will find all the legislative and regulatory issues the NYSSCPA will be working towards this year and background information to keep you informed on progress up to this point. We will keep this page updated as issues change and move forward.

Stay up-to-date on the Society’s ongoing advocacy efforts with the monthly Legislative Update. Learn more about how the Society is working on our members’ behalf and our legislative victories, read newsworthy articles regarding important legislation, and take advantage of the opportunity to submit legislative issues or concerns. Read the current issue or any previous issues.

NYSSCPA members who have identified him/herself as someone who has either a personal or business connection with a legislator or political party official in New York State and is willing to share that connection with the Society can participate in the Key Contact program. The Society can then utilize those connections to open the flow of communication with lawmakers or state officials so that we may share our position more effectively. 

Comment letters are effective mechanisms to advocate for the profession and influence the adoption of sound policy and regulations in the areas of accounting, tax and finance.
